Croppi Gabriele
(Domodossola, 1974)
In addition to his natural passion for painting, he adds, in the years,
the one for photography. He attend the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia in
Milano. He devotes himself to the social reportage, working in the Balcan region,
in Amazonia and in other realities of the
latin-american area. At the same time, starting from the middle of the 90’ies, he develops a
research on the relation between photography and other arts, from painting
(Guernica 2000,1999; Omaggio a Sironi, 2007) to literature (research inspired
to the poetry of Borges and Pessoa 1998-2004) ending up with the cinema
(Visioni, 2006-2007).
In 2005 he also signs his first feature film “L’innocenza della mano”. Among his most recent works, the series Horror Vacui (2008) and a research on the theme of the post-memory (2008) through the revisiting of the places of the Shoah. He currently lives and works in Milano in publishing and he teaches at the Istituto Italiano di Fotografia.
